Flights RomaniaAlthough it is relatively close to the major powers of Western Europe, Romania is a country that doesn’t get a lot of attention outside Olympic gymnastics every four years. But Bucharest, the country’s capital city and commercial center, is loaded with cultural landmarks and more modern things to see and do as well, and makes for an outstanding travel destination.Built in the 1980’s during the period when Romania under the control of a Communist Dictator, the Palace of the Parliament is an interesting sight to see. It’s the largest building in Europe and the third-largest in the world, and it is where the Romanian Parliament is based. Also, the National Museum of Contemporary Art is located within its confines, and the building is sometimes used as a convention center. Designed after the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, the Arcul de Triumf was built in 1935, and is an important landmark in Romania. Another tourist stop is the Memorial of Rebirth, a monument made out of marble in 2005 to honor the victims of the 1989 Romanian Revolution. Bucharest also contains many museums, including the aforementioned National Museum of Art of Romania, which features large collections of Romanian art, both medieval and from modern day. The Zambaccian Museum not only holds works by Romanian artists, but it also has collections from well known European artists as well, including Cezanne, Matisse, Pissarro, and Picasso. To get there, cheap flights to Romania are available from many cities in Europe. KLM offers very inexpensive flights to Romania from many cities, including Amsterdam, London, Paris, and others. Further out, cheap flights from Japan to Romania can be found on airlines such as Lufthansa and Air France. As far as rules and regulations, most carriers prefer that you arrive at least two hours early for your international flights. In addition, there is usually a weight limit on baggage when taking any flight, international or domestic, but the exact amount depends on the airline. Passengers who have bags over the posted weight limit will usually be charged extra by the airline. So for a travel experience that is unique, fly to this former Communist stronghold, halfway between Western Europe and the Middle East. When you get back and the vacation photos come out, not many people will be able to say, “Been there, done that!”
