Flights PhoenixThe word “Phoenix” can have several different meanings. In the United States, when most people hear the word, they think of a city in Arizona. As the city of Phoenix is fairly large, and has an easily accessible airport, it is easy to find cheap flights to Phoenix from places all over the world, such as London, Poland, or even Greece. A simple search online will turn up many flight deals to Phoenix, and it’s even easier to book seats on cheap nonstop flights to Phoenix from Tulsa, or any other large cities in the state of Arizona, due to the close proximity to this bustling city.And speaking of flights, “Phoenix” was also the name of the aircraft in the movie, “Flight of the Phoenix”, starring Jimmy Stewart in 1965. The movie was also remade in 2004 with several stars, including Dennis Quaid, Tyrese Gibson, Giovanni Ribisi, and Hugh Laurie. According to the premise of the movie, survivors of a plane crash in the Mongolian desert decide to try and build a new airplane out of the scraps that were left after the crash, since they figure it would be their only way back to safety before they would run out of food and water. A popular trivia question that is sometimes asked about the movie is, “What kind of plane is in the movie ‘Flight of the Phoenix?’” The answer is a C-119. The movie is available on DVD, and songs from Flight of the Phoenix can be heard on the official soundtrack. Finally, the word “Phoenix” turns up in the wildly popular Harry Potter series. Rather than “Flight of the Phoenix”, the author chose to name the fifth book in the series, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”. This chapter in the saga has Harry studying for his exams while trying to warn his teachers and classmates of Voldemort’s return. This only earns him the distain of everyone, and the Ministry of Magic takes steps to slowly take over Hogwarts. While this book has been out for several years, the movie is due to be released sometime in 2007, with the DVD following suit shortly after.
