Flights MalagaLong the stepchild of its larger neighbor, Seville, the city of Malaga has come into its own as a travel destination worth seeing on Spain’s southern Costa del Sol. The city’s climate is an ideal one, as the Mediterranean Sea regulates the heat of the summer to a comfortable level, while the inland mountains protect Malaga from much of the winter chill.Along with the sun and sand, Malaga boasts many historical sites, including a Baroque Cathedral, which is referred to as “La Manquita”, or “One Armed Woman”, due to it’s unfortunate lopsided appearance since it is missing one of its bell tower. There is also a Parador, the Spanish equivalent of a bed-and-breakfast, close by on the top of a hill. This state run hotel was once a Moorish castle, and has wonderful panoramic views of the city of Malaga, as well as the Mediterranean Sea. One can also check out the history of Malaga’s favorite hometown son, Pablo Picasso. This prolific painter was born there, and travelers can learn all about the father of cubism at the Picasso Museum, which opened in 2003, and also at the newly refurbished birthplace of the artist, which is located in the city center. Not only can tourists learn about Malaga’s history, but they can also find many places to lighten their wallets at the same time, with the city’s numerous shopping areas in Malaga Center. The Alameda, which is a tree-lined avenue that runs perpendicular to the main street, boasts many designer shops and wonderful cafes. To get to Malaga, travelers can fly directly to the city via the busy Pablo Ruiz Picasso Malaga International Airport, which serves much of the Andalusian area of Spain. Cheap flight deals to Malaga can be found on many airlines, depending on the point of origin, so it pays to shop around to get the best deal. From northwestern Europe, flights from Birmingham, Manchester, and London, UK to Malaga, Spain can be found on British Airways, and Iberia, which is a large airline based in Spain.
